It is important for us to know the weapons of our warfare and how we can deploy them effectively. We need to remember that the Bible tells us that, “… the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,” (2Cor 10:4). It will be preposterous to imagine that carnal weapons will be effective in spiritual warfare. However, it is equally important to remember that though the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, they are MIGHTY IN GOD FOR PULLING DOWN STRONGHOLDS. No satanic stronghold can help being demolished by these weapons whenever they are properly used.
We shall consider the first of these weapons, which is THE BLOOD OF JESUS. The Bible says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (Rev 12:11). The blood of Jesus was the first weapon the heavenly hosts wielded against Satan and his co-rebels to overpower and oust them from heaven. The result was that, “… they (Satan and his angels) did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Rev 12:8-9). What held true of the effective battle approach the angelic forces of heaven adopted in that celestial warfare that predated human history, holds true of ours today. By  correctly applying the blood of Jesus, we drive satanic forces from our lives and circumstances. The blood of Jesus signifies his triumph over Satan and his demonic forces. It represents the lethal blow which Jesus dealt Satan, to defeat, disarm, dethrone, and destroy him. Therefore, Satan and his kingdom cannot withstand even a drop of the blood of Jesus.
However, in order to enjoy the full benefits of the blood of Jesus, we need to believe in its efficacy, letting the Holy Spirit reveal its potency to us. Jesus reveals the power of His blood in these words : “Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” (Lk 22:20).  “The new covenant in My blood”, think about it. What does  the new covenant mean? The book of Ezekiel gives us an idea : “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:26-27). It is important to note how many times the expression “I will” occurs in the scriptural text above, all in reference to God’s plans for you and me. Simply put, the new covenant is God’s intention and arrangements to live in human beings, and thereby motivate them from within, to keep His judgements and do them. The new covenant, unlike the old, is based on an intimate relationship between God and mankind, which is expressed by grace through faith.
The foregoing reveals that the new covenant has been made possible, only because of the blood of Jesus that was shed for us. No wonder the Bible says,  “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Heb 10:19-22). The blood of Jesus never fades, and therefore, is timeless in potency, relevance and applicability. Shalom.
