Faith is an appropriate human response to a heartfelt conviction or assurance, which is based on a personal revelation from the Holy Spirit.

The second step (kindly refer to my previous post for the first step) towards receiving faith for a miracle from God, is to accept what you have heard from God as the truth. The Bible says “…Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. …” (Rom 3:4). Revelations from God are offers He makes us, which we can either accept or reject. To accept a prophetic word from God is to agree with Him on the matter. If we accept a word or promise from God, it is an indication that we believe Him.

The point of having to accept what you have heard from God, is so that the word may take root in your heart, and produce deep-seated assurance or conviction therein. You see, when Elijah heard the sound of abundance of rain it produced a solid conviction of an imminent rainfall in his heart so much so that he commanded Ahab to go and eat and drink. Elijah’s conviction was so strong and convincing, that Ahab went up to eat and drink (1Ki 18:41-42).

It is the seed of God’s word sown in a human heart that produces the fruit of the kingdom of God in that human life. You must first receive in your heart, as a promise (spiritual assurance, conviction or truth), what you hope to receive in your experience as a material or physical fact. What you hope for will not become yours materially, if you do not first accept its spiritual reality in your heart. Hence, the Bible instructs: “So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word WHICH IMPLANTED AND ROOTED [IN YOUR HEARTS] CONTAINS THE POWER TO SAVE YOUR SOULS.” (James 1:21 AMP (emphasis mine).

Let God’s word to you be implanted and rooted in your heart by meditating on it constantly. To do this effectively the Bible says, “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh” (Prov 4:20-22). As you give attention to God’s words for your life by inclining your ear to them, and by fixing your eyes on them, they will sink in and produce a firm conviction of their reality in your heart. That was why Jesus gave His disciples the following instructions: “… Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you–and more [besides] will be given to you who hear” (Mk 4:24). Shalom.
