The enemy will do everything he can to intimidate you into withdrawing  from possessing what God has given you. Never, never think that what God has planned or prepared for you, will become yours to enjoy without a fight. Satan will contest your spiritual inheritance with you, until he is forced to surrender. He does not give up ground, unless he has to. This is why the Bible says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1Pet 5:8). We cannot afford to let down our guard, because we are in a warfare. We must stay alert, if we are to detect his insidious wiles. Had the generation of Israel that left Egypt for the promised land known this truth, they would not have accepted Satan’s lies that they were like grasshoppers in both their own eyes and those of their enemies (Num 13:33). If Satan can get you to accept his lies as truth, he can influence your life negatively. He is the master of subterfuge.
The tragedy of the whole thing was that the giants the Israelites were afraid of, were already in dread of them. The following words of Rahab’s to the two spies Joshua had sent Jericho indicates it : “…  “I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.” (Josh 2:9). Half of the victory over Satan’s onslaught is to be able to detect his involvement and actions in a situation. This is why he goes to great lengths to mask his part in any circumstance. Your ignorance and consequent negligence of his role in the circumstances of daily life, gives Satan an opportunity to operate, without hindrance in your affairs. However, even in situations where you can tell he is present, he does whatever he can to ensure that your knowledge of him or his activities in the situation is misconceived. This is why his kingdom is called the kingdom of darkness.
When Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” He meant that He was the only hope the world had to know freedom from Satan’s oppression. This is why the Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (Jn 3:16). The importance of light cannot be overemphasised. This is because wherever light is lacking, defeat is inevitable. That was the undoing of ten out of the twelve spies whom Moses had sent to Canaan. Yes, from all appearances, the inhabitants of the land were invincible. However, that was not the only reality that existed. No wonder the Jesus says, “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” (Jn 7:24). God wants you to see beyond three-dimensional reality. The battle of life is either won or lost in the mind. It is a tragedy to settle for less than God planned for you, simply because you THINK it is not possible for you to reach that height. We may consider it a mark of  humility to think of ourselves in denigrating terms. However, the mark of humility is not to deny who you are in Christ, but to accept it boldly. It is not pride to say what God says about you, rather it is humility—agreeing with God. What we do not know can hurt us tremendously, because it limits the scope of our thinking, which, in turn, narrows our beliefs. For instance, if we do not know that we can be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, we will consider ourselves weak, and thereby live in constant defeat.
The Holy Spirit, through Prophet Hosea, decried the prevalent lack of knowledge among the people of God : “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” (Hos 4:6). It is still true of God’s people today. Apostle Paul underscored this danger when he wrote, “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. Many Christians are in Satan’s grip because they are ignorant of the devices of the Devil. Satan never fails to take advantage of any opportunity he is given, whether given intentionally or unwittingly. That was why Paul prayed that, “the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power (Eph 1:18-19). Shalom.
