“… Christ is all and in all.” (Col 3:11).
Jesus is the only source of Biblical faith, because He is the only person whose words produce genuine faith in the heart. “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” (Rom 10:17 NIV). This is why the Scripture commands us to look to Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith (Heb12:2). If we truly desire to live by faith, without which it is impossible to please God, then, we must make Jesus the dominant focus of our lives. Anything outside this is presumptuous and phony.
Satan wants to distract us from Jesus, like he did to Peter (Matt14:30), so as to sink and drown us through fear. He knows that as long as our eyes are on Jesus, we will walk by faith, and that as long as we walk by faith, he cannot harm us. Our walking by faith, as far as our lives are concerned, denies Satan the opportunity to achieve his threefold mission of stealing, killing and destroying (Jn 10:10).
It is necessary to point out that all that God has given us, He has given us in Christ Jesus. Apart from Jesus God has not given us anything. Actually, He has nothing to offer us outside Jesus. “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” (2Cor 1:20 NIV). This implies that all the very great and precious promises, which the Bible says are the only means by which we may participate in the divine nature (2Pet 1:3-4 NIV), are only valid and effective in Christ.
Whatever dominates our consciousness determines our reality. Therefore, we should not sow seeds the fruit of which, we do not want to see in our lives. For if we allow the world to distract us from Jesus, we have planted a dangerous seed in our hearts that will eventually bear fruit after its kind in our lives. We must, therefore, let Christ dominate our consciousness, if we want God’s plans for us to become our experience in reality. Look away from the diversionary tactics of your enemy, the devil, who prowls about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1Pet 5:8). Shalom.
